The Islamic State group (ISIS) on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 beheaded nine people, including three women, who were part of Kurdish fighters battling the terror group on the Syria/Turkey border, Huffington Post reports.
The fighters were kidnapped during intense exchanges in Kobani, a North Syrian town. Women are allowed to fight alongside men as gender equality has found its roots in the main Kurdish fighting group in the area, the YPG.
ISIS sources posted disturbing images of the severed heads of the women on social media platforms on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the city of Jarablous, which is currently under ISIS control.
The images have not yet been independently confirmed as at press time.
